It takes a village...

It takes a village...and a part of our village is Ms. Kim. How do you even begin to describe someone that has not only prepared your child for pre-school, but really, life in general.

We first heard of Kim when my sister told me I needed to start seeking out daycare as soon as I was pregnant. I thought she was nuts, but yeah, well you learn. My sister was never able to get her kids in because of the timing of when she needed daycare versus when Kim had an opening. So, luckily we called her up and went over to meet with her. We clicked instantly. Well...I can't promise you that's what she thought, but for Brian and I, we knew we liked her. She didn't have any openings at the time, but we got on the list. I was so fortunate to be able to work from home the first year with Gabriella. As a baby, she was pretty easy and slept a lot, so it really worked well. Then she started moving...and it got more difficult. At about 14 months Kim called and had an opening and can I tell you...it came none to soon!

Exhibit A: an old post of what Gabriella would do while I worked.

Gabriella's first day at Ms. Kim's. Look how tiny she was!!

So Gabriella has been at Ms. Kim's for 3 years. She has taught her the letters, numbers, how to spell and write her name, colors, songs and oh so much more. I know some of her famous sayings that she comes up with comes from there as well. (i.e. "mommy are you losing your marbles?") But, if not even more important, Kim has taught her to be nice to her friends, to say your sorry, to "give loves", and of course...potty training :) (we love you Kim!)

So even though we are having a hard time with it, the last day at Ms. Kim's has come. :(
We have had a wonderful time with Kim, but she has prepared Gabriella well for big girl school and we are looking forward to what's in store. Having said that...it's still not easy.

Gabriella wanted to make her a special card so she worked hard to create something special. She wrote "Thank you Ms. Kim" on the front and added some of her special stickers. She drew some of her current favorite things, R2D2 and C3PO (thanks Brian). She was also very excited that she knew how to spell those. She has always enjoyed drawing robots, so now she's able to put names to them. On the back she drew a monster...but then kind of chuckled and said, "hmm it kinda looks like a pig" LOL. We added a special gift to the card and we looked forward to her party on her last day.

Kim told us they had a very healthy special last day :) They ate doughnuts for breakfast and pizza for lunch. Sounds like a good day to me. They had a party in the afternoon for her and Cortlan. Cortlan and Gabriella are going to school together for which we are thankful that they will have one another.

Ms. Kim can't get rid of us quite yet though...Miss Amelia is hanging tough.

Ms. Kim gave Gabriella a present and she was excited to tear into it.

Presents!

BrainQuest! We sat and did a whole stack of these right after these pictures.

She was more than excited to open this book. The Kissing Hand.

Thank you Kim! We love you!
